Welcome. I am Kassia and my aim is to add yet another blog to the depths of the internet. I am sure you’re all dying to hear how my new found business (ad)venture came about… No? Well, that’s awkward. Here I go anyway…
It’s been a long 4 years of my life developing the idea behind The Pole Dancing Therapist, as well as gaining enough qualifications to pull it off. See, I actually care about the people that I work with so I’ve made sure I have ALL of the knowledge I need to start. This is far from all the knowledge I will ever gain (I am a big old geek), and I had a high baseline target for myself before I would allow myself to begin. I don’t know about you, but it annoys the hell out of me when someone starts out a business venture with a whole load of “what’s to come” and “one day I will be able to do stuff” rather than “here, look at all these awesome skills that I already have and can give to you immediately!” so here is what I already have:
Level 5 Sports and Remedial Massage – BCMB 1 year course
Level 4 Holistic Massage – BCMB 1 year course
Certificate in Medical Acupuncture – OMT
Spin City Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Pole Dance Instructor Certificates
Sports Rehabilitation BSc (Hons) year one completed (yay!) – UWE
Phew! So yes, I like to think I have a generous amount of anatomy, assessment and treatment knowledge but, remember I am British so it’s frowned upon to say you are good at anything even if you have trained for your whole life. I am probably more well known for my pole stuff, so I won’t bore you with that. Although, you’d be forgiven for not knowing who the hell I am so go Instagram me @thepoledancing_therapist, quick! It is worth noting that I am telling you WHERE I acquired these certificates/qualifications so you know I haven’t learnt anatomy and how to massage from ‘The Place that Teaches you Fuck all in 24 hours’.
I have a whole lot of education ahead of me, which I am extremely excited about! The things I have already planned very briefly include: final 2 years of uni (funnily enough), advanced acupuncture and, who knows maybe a Masters at some point down the way… A cool guy once said “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” You know what Albert, I intend to do just that.
The reason that I am sharing all this with you, my one reader, is to prove that I am not a fraud and to show a little bit of myself as a human rather than a robot of Instagram and Facebook. So, welcome to my brain, I am sure this blog will be unhelpful and filled with random crap. Thanks for reading!
